For the tenth consecutive year, the Russian Book Union is participating in the Tehran International Book Fair. This year, during the days of the fair, they will hold over 80 cultural programs at the book fair, as well as in cultural centers and universities across Iran.

According to the press office of the 36th Tehran International Book Fair, Arezoo Ashtijoo, representative of the Russian Book Union at the fair, said:
“This is our tenth consecutive participation in the Tehran International Book Fair. Our goal is to introduce Russian culture, history, and literature and to promote cultural exchange between the Iranian and Russian nations.”

She added:
“We are very eager for Iranians to become familiar with the latest works of Russian authors. That’s why we organize diverse programs every year alongside the Tehran book fair — not only at the fairgrounds but also in Iranian academic settings.”

Ashtijoo continued:
“Our purpose at the fair is to foster interaction between Russian and Iranian publishers, authors, and translators. We are participating with 550 book titles, totaling 800 volumes — all published within the last four years.”

She clarified that they are not offering books for sale at the fair:
“Our main goal is to establish connections with Iranian publishers for the translation and publication of newly released Russian books, and to sell the copyrights for translation in Iran.”

Ashtijoo also stated:
“Since the Russian language is taught at key universities in Iran, we are presenting the latest Russian language educational books published by Zlataust Publishing at this year's fair.”

She noted that specialized sessions will be held during the fair:
“A group of prominent Russian authors will travel to Iran and hold several expert panels and talks at the book fair, various universities, and bookstores in Tehran.”

Special guests at the 36th Tehran International Book Fair include:

Kirill Karchagin (poet, literary critic, translator, and linguist)

Dmitry Likhanov (author, President of the Russian Children's Foundation, and member of the Russian Writers’ Union)

Helga Pataki (publishing developer at Nastya and Nikita, author, and director)

Denis Khrustalyov (historian and author of dozens of books on medieval and early modern history)

These guests will speak at various events throughout their stay in Iran, both at the fair and in cultural and academic venues.

A large portion of the programs will focus on Iranian learners of Russian and their instructors.

Daily events such as competitions, exams, and workshops will be held at the Russian national booth for visitors. These activities are aimed at promoting Russian culture and the Russian language.

The events organized by Russia at the Tehran International Book Fair include over 80 programs, not just in the capital but in other cities across Iran as well.

The Russian Book Union is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in 2001. It includes publishers, booksellers, stationery shops, librarians, leading companies in the printing industry, and several writer associations and organizations.

On the final day of the fair, the Russian Book Union will donate the books exhibited at their booth to cultural and educational institutions.

The 36th Tehran International Book Fair is being held from May 6 to May 16, 2025, under the slogan “Let’s Read for Iran” at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla. Alongside the physical exhibition, the virtual version of the fair is also available at book.icfi.ir, allowing online book purchases.
