Record rial 100b and USD 50m worth of publications have been sold in the 22nd edition of Tehran International Book Fair held last year, according to Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance who revealed the figured in a ceremony to unveil a software themed with the motto of the current Iranian year, "double resolve, double work".
Sayyid Muhammad Husseini also said a closing ceremony of the 23rd Tehran International Book Fair will be led by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The Minister told reporters after the unveiling ceremony that some 980 foreign publishers have joined the present edition of Tehran book fair, adding that a massive welcome had already been accorded to the book fair.
He said the 23rd edition run smoothly owing to a parliamentary support adding however that further efforts were essential to stage the next editions more magnificently.
The Minister believed the 23rd edition was featured by panel discussions in the House of Authors and unveiling of breakthrough cultural commodities.
