Acting President of the 23rd Tehran International Book Fair reckoned that once fairgrounds in provincial centers had what it takes to accommodate foreign publishers, international events could be staged outside the capital.
Ehsanollah Hojati said several provincial centers, including Kerman and Tabriz, are eligible to host an international book fair event however the organizers should take stock of a slew of issues before staging such events across provinces.
He said an internationalization of the existing provincial book fairs requires a study of priorities and precise procedures beforehand. "The very conversion of several foreign publishers will not internationalize a certain book fair event," he reckoned.
However, according to Hojati, East Azarbaijan and Kerman provinces have already been hosting an international book fair event since three years ago.
