A strong turnout by the public in the debut day of the 23rd Tehran International Book Fair drives home the message that the major cultural event fair would be staged more gloriously than previous editions, IRI Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance told the book fair's press office Thursday evening.

Thursday May 16 was a debut day for the 23rd edition of the major cultural event.

Sayyid Muhammad Husseini noted few editions ever were witness to such a large group of visitors in early hours of the first day.

The Minister who had inspected the fair on a snap visit which featured short talks with several publishers expressed delight that a majority of participating publishers were satisfied with the conduct of the major event.

"Some however were discontent with the meager space of their pavilions," the Minister said, adding however the deficiency was inevitable that in light of ongoing construction works in some parts of the fairground, the Imam Khomeini Mosalla (Grand Mosque) north of capital.

Husseini appreciated visitors for opting to travel to the fairground by public transportation vehicles, subway services in particular, adding despite several efforts to expand the capacity of parking lots visitors are urged to use public transportation vehicles as it helps smooth traffic in adjoining streets and removes potential problems.
