The Syrian author noted that Persian literary works have a broad readership among Arab population, adding that so far up to five contemporary novels have been translated into Arabic. The author also said that a broad range of titles from Iranian authors have been opted by Arab translators and will soon hit stalls in Arab book markets.
Mardini said Arab publishers consider a special regard for Iranian titles. In the same note, he said several book categories are more popular with Arab readership including history, linguistics, as well Islamic reference books like Tabari History as well as all religious anthologies or encyclopedias.
Mardini said he has already joined many book fairs in Arab and Islamic countries including in Malaysia and Indonesia, gaining hands-on experiences, however, Tehran event was exceptional in terms of the number of Arab publishers involved.
The Syrian publisher urged relevant Iranian authorities to consider a larger venue for the landmark event especially on account of a sizeable number of visitors.
